Meet Gabriel David Beres
With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (C.O.T.A.) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In Norton, Ohio, and all over the United States, many caring volunteers are raising funds for C.O.T.A. in honor of transplant patients like local child, Gabriel Beres.
Gabriel is the son of Gabe and Sonja Beres. Born on June 6, 2012, Gabriel was diagnosed with Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis at only 3 weeks old. The doctors at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, recommended a life-saving liver transplant, which he thankfully and gratefully received on February 3rd, 2014. An estimated $50,000 is being actively raised by volunteers to assist with his transplant-related expenses.
Well, today is October 14th, 2014 and we are extremely happy to report that 2 year old Gabriel is almost 9 months post-transplant and doing superbly well. He is your typical curious, very VERY active 2 year old. He weighs 34 pounds and is in the 95% percentile for height and weight.
Other big news, while he was recovering at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, his adorable brother, Kamden Joseph, was born on February 19th. Kamden was tested right away and tested negative for PFiC - such a relief!
We are looking forward to spending the holidays with these precious and healthy boys. We've updated the Photo Album with some recent photos of Gabriel and Kamden.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU so much for your continued support and donations!
